The Walnut Creek Men's Golf Club has been active at Boundary Oak Golf Course since it was opened almost 50 years ago. The club is registered with the Northern California Golf Association and provides all members access to the handicap (GHIN) system; NCGA tournament play and privileges; and local club meetings and tournament events throughout the year. The club prides itself on being friendly, giving all members the opportunity to make new friends that also enjoy playing golf.
There are currently over 250 members, and the club is looking forward to growing its membership in the coming season. Memberships are available for resident and non-resident Men, Women, and Juniors with both Regular and Associate divisions.
The goal of the WCMGC is to provide local tournament events for players at all levels. Over 20 tournaments are played annually at Boundary Oak including: Club Championship, Individual, and Team Match Play, with multiple flights for play at all levels. Scratch and handicap tournaments, weekly "skins" games, and fun scramble events fill the club's calendar. Almost all tournaments are conducted on weekend mornings to accommodate the working golfer.
The Club strives to ensure fairness of play in handicap flights by reviewing all players who have repeated exceptional scores. It is the goal of the club's leadership that golf should be both competitive and fun for all members.
The WCMGC has an elected Board of Directors with each member serving a three-year term. The BOD meets monthly to plan events, manage the budget, and ensure competitions are played fairly.
Additionally, the club provides a scholarship in memory of well-known instructor Mike Jordan, for a Junior Golfer each year to participate in one of the annual summer camps offered at Boundary Oak. Several members also provide assistance to The First Tee and USGA/LPGA Girls Programs also established at the golf course. The club also supports the Walnut Creek Fountain for Youth event each year.
